logo

At 1268 m altitude is Saanenmöser, a chalet village at the gates of the famous resort of Gstaad. The ski resort of Saanenmöser is known for its numerous easy and intermediate pistes. High above Saanenmöser tower the mountains Hornberg (1800 m) and Saanerlochsgrat (1935 m). They form the center of the largest ski resort in the Gstaad region. This is where the ski resorts of Saanenmöser, Schönried, St. Stephan and Zweisimmen merge and together offer wide and sunny pistes over 105 km for winter sports fans of all levels.

The Hornberg is the family mountain and is located above the village Saanenmöser. Ski beginners will find here numerous pistes with a slight piste, where they can learn skiing and consolidate their knowledge. On site, there is also a ski school and a snow kindergarten, with special beginner facilities: ski lifts and snow carousel. For those who like to ski leisurely and enjoy the scenery, the piste 23 "Saanenwald-Saanenmöser" is just the right one, as the speed is limited to 30 km / h.

Skiers of middle and advanced levels have some pretty exciting red runs, especially worth mentioning the track of the BMW xDrive ski movie. On this giant slalom course, which is equipped with a chronometer, there is the BMW xDrive Cup, a well-known race with numerous prizes. A camera system installed on the piste records your departure and thus gives you an unforgettable memory of your stay in Saanenmöser.

Divided into three sections of varying degrees of difficulty, there are a total of 10.3 km of classic cross-country ski routes and 7.4 km of skating pistes. For cross-country beginners, there are two laps of 2 km each, with dogs allowed on one side. Starting from the train station in Saanenmöser, both routes follow the railroad pistes one kilometer long in the direction of Schönried, before returning in a large loop to the starting point.

For good cross-country skiers, there is a challenging, red, 4.6 km long route (classic and skating) between Schönried and Saanenmöser, with a vertical drop of 65 m. Very good cross-country skiers will be delighted by the 3 km long, black route that leads from Schönried down to Saanenmöser, Horneggli and the Wittere plateau. Over a height difference of 100m in total this route crosses magnificent alpine landscapes and is ideal for well-trained cross-country skiers.

On the Wittere plateau, the magnificent panoramic views of the Simmental and the neighboring villages invite you to rest and relax. Then the route continues down to its final destination, the railway station of Saanenmöser. This route can also be used in the opposite direction, along the railway pistes to the station of Schönried.

A paradise for snowboarders and winter hikers

In the region "Gstaad Mountain Rides" Saanenmöser is a paradise for snowboarders and freeriders. The "Snowpark Gstaad" located on the Hornberg offers snowboarders and freeriders, beginners and advanced, three areas with 27 elements: i.a. jumps, wallride, spine, rails, tubes and boxes. The huge air cushion, Big Airbag, in Saanenwald allows freestylers to safely try acrobatic figures. The use of the Big Airbag is free and is allowed from the age of 12 . Freestylers that are not tired can also participate in nightly actions (night sessions).

Saanenmöser offers its guests a winter sports attraction that is unique in the Bernese Oberland: the Funslope. Located near the "Snowpark Gstaad", the Funslope includes various elements (bridges, tunnels, snails) that guarantee fun on every downhill. On the Saanerlochsgrat, the igloo village of Saanenmöser invites winter tourists to memorable moments in real snowmaking sessions. In addition, Saanenmöser has a sled piste and a natural ice rink.

Saanenmöser is also the starting point for wonderful hiking routes on foot or with snowshoes. On the varied routes, hikers can discover the different facets of the picturesque region of Saanenland: the sunny landscape of the moss plain and the dense, snow-covered forests of the Wittere plateau.
