Good cross-country skiing opportunities
About 18 km of well-groomed routes with an interesting route are available for cross-country fans in Saanenmöser and the surrounding area. Divided into three sections of varying degrees of difficulty, there are a total of 10.3 km of classic cross-country ski routes and 7.4 km of skating pistes. For cross-country beginners, there are two laps of 2 km each, with dogs allowed on one side. Starting from the train station in Saanenmöser, both routes follow the railroad pistes one kilometer long in the direction of Schönried, before returning in a large loop to the starting point.
For good cross-country skiers, there is a challenging, red, 4.6 km long route (classic and skating) between Schönried and Saanenmöser, with a vertical drop of 65 m. Very good cross-country skiers will be delighted by the 3 km long, black route that leads from Schönried down to Saanenmöser, Horneggli and the Wittere plateau. Over a height difference of 100m in total this route crosses magnificent alpine landscapes and is ideal for well-trained cross-country skiers.
On the Wittere plateau, the magnificent panoramic views of the Simmental and the neighboring villages invite you to rest and relax. Then the route continues down to its final destination, the railway station of Saanenmöser. This route can also be used in the opposite direction, along the railway pistes to the station of Schönried.
