Excellent family ski area
As the bearer of the Swiss "Families Welcome" seal of quality, Laax has numerous equipments and facilities specially designed for families. This offer includes ski schools, winter paradises, child care and family accommodation. Children under the age of 5 are allowed to ski for free and the on-site staff are particularly attentive to ski beginners. With the special offer "Laax for Beginners", beginners can take part in ski or snowboard lessons, rent equipment and have lunch.
The ski area has specially adapted infrastructures to the needs of beginners. In order to improve the comfort and safety of novice skiers, barriers and conveyor belts in the lower part of the ski area have been replaced by more comfortable and slower drag lifts. A variety of pistes have been created especially for beginners: between the Vorab Glacier and Plaun, in the area between Crap Sogn Gion and the village of Falera or the pistes from Foppa to Flims Dorf. Practice pistes with the special ski lifts are also available in the children's area Ami Sabi as well as at Crap Sogn Gion, Nagens and Foppa.
The Snowpark "Beginner Area" and the snow wonderland "Ami Sabi" provide children in informal surroundings with playful instructions for skiing. Accompanied by the magician Ami Sabi and under the guidance of professional ski instructors, the very little ones learn to playfully and relaxed skiing. Located at 1,100 meters above sea level, this idyllic 12500 m2 site has a magic carpet and a heated lounge with a play area. You can reach the Kinderland on foot, by bus or post bus as well as by car.
World-famous freestyle paradise
Adrenalin abounds in the Laax ski area, the world's top adress for snowboarding and freestyle. Fans of risky jumps and acrobatic figures, beginners and experts will find super-modern installations in Laax. The ski area of Laax is characterized above all by its infrastructure: a unique halfpipe in Europe, the very first professional indoor snowboard and freestyle school in Europe and 4 snow parks for every ability. At 140 m, it was already monstrous, but meanwhile the big halfpipe has been extended by 60 m to Olympic dimensions. It now measures 200m in length, 22m in diameter and 6.9m in height. The largest halfpipe in the world is open all season.
Do you not feel this snow giant grown? Then make a detour to the "Snowboard Freestyle Academy" of Laax. Covering an area of 1000m2, this school has large halls with various elements: trampolines, mini-jumps, snow-ski pistes, foampit for gentle landings, street skate, air bowl, air piste and other equipment. The main attraction of this academy is the BigAir, with its different modules. Courses, training camps and specialty courses are offered by professionals. Laax is truly the kingdom of freestyle with this great offer, available all season long. It is therefore not surprising that Laax hosts various international competitions such as the Burton European Open, the European Snowboard Show and the Halfpipe take off each year.
