Chosen as the best Swiss holiday destination in 2013, Laax is a paradise for skiers and freestyle fans. The Alpenarena ski area consists of the ski areas Laax, Flims and Falera. With 235 kilometers of pistes, it is one of the largest ski areas in Switzerland. Laax is also one of the sunniest and snowiest ski areas in Europe. With more than 70% of the pistes above 2000 m, snow is guaranteed throughout the season. The runway network is easily accessible thanks to 29 ski lifts. The ski pistes are varied enough to satisfy skiers of all levels. Laax offers skiers yet another advantage: the accommodations of all ski areas in the Alpenarena are located close to the ski pistes. Moreover, it is a few ski areas where there are almost no queues at the ski lifts.

Two-thirds of the green and red slopes make the Laax ski area ideal for beginners and advanced skiers. The pistes, which have been created especially for skiers and intermediate skiers, are wide, easy and accessible. There are also several practice areas for beginners and ski lifts adapted to their needs. But even professional skiers are not forgotten. Skilled skiers have several downhills where they can prove their technical skills and physical condition.

From the Vorab glacier, the highest point of the ski area (3018 m), runs down the saddle slope (n ° 35), the most difficult slope of Laax. It stretches over 3 km with a difference in altitude of 1904 m and promises an adrenaline rush for people who love challenges. The ski area also has other interesting pistes for ski professionals, we have the FIS approved ski piste n ° 65. Laax also has one of the longest difficult pistes in the canton of Grisons: the piste from La Siala to Flims village spreads over 14.8 km.

Cross-country skiing and winter hiking

The varied cross-country network, consisting of 55 cross-country routes, runs through the towns of Flims, Bargis, Trin and Sagogn. The routes vary depending on the level. Around Flims, the terrain is rather hilly and the routes are better for experienced cross-country skiers, whereas in the area around Trin and Sagogn the route runs over a plain with only a slight incline. Therefore, this route is particularly suitable for beginners and slightly advanced skiers. Laax's sunny, cross-country skiing area features double-groomed skating and classic-style routes. For their comfort, the cross-country skiers will find various amenities along the route: parking, ski rental, toilets, changing rooms, showers and winter bars.

For night owls, there are pistes open on various evenings, a 2.5 km long illuminated downhill run in Sagogn and a 3 km long in Trin. There is also a 1 km long piste for skiing with dogs in Sagogn. Around 250 km of hiking routes are available for winter hikes.

Successful winter holidays thanks to many activities

In addition to its vast network of alpine pistes and cross-country routes, Laax also offers a wide range of different winter sports. Off-piste fans will find a large marked area that they can freely explore. Unadulterated pleasure in untouched snow as far as the eye can see and wild nature that shows itself in all its beauty. Four snow parks, all equipped with modern facility, attract snowboard and freestyle fans from all over the world to Laax. The ski area has the largest halfpipe and the first professional indoor freestyle school in Europe.

Toboggan fans can look forward to two sensational routes: the Foppa Flims course (1420m - 1100m) with a length of 3 km and the Curnius-Falera, which expands over 3.5 km. This track is also lit for night sleigh rides. At the Foppa (1420m) every Tuesday and Thursday the evening sleigh rides are accompanied by raclette and fondue tastings as well as mulled wine. To complete the range of winter activities, there are also carving, curling and paragliding in the Flims-Laax ski area.

In the valley as well as on the heights, high-quality equipment is available for hire in a total of 6 shops. In Laax you can borrow everything: skis, snowboards, shoes, helmets, clothing, gloves, etc. There are also recreational and relaxation offers in the ski area. Numerous mountain restaurants and winter bars provide physical well-being. Laax and its neighboring towns also offer good après-ski opportunities: parties, bars, concerts.
