Varied skiing fun on the pistes of the Engelberg valley
The ski area extends over both sides of the valley of Engelberg: from Brunni to Trübsee-Titlis. The connection between the two areas is ensured by shuttle buses. The Brunni, between 1000 and 2400 m, is very sunny. There, on the Klostermatte or the Gerschnialp, are the blue (easy) pistes of the place. It is the ideal winter sports destination for families. This part of the Engelberg ski area is really perfect for acquiring and perfecting ski knowledge. Above the Trübsee, a mountain lake at 1800m, is the area Trübsee-Titlis. With a majority of red pistes, this section is aimed primarily at better skiers.
This area offers two main attractions: the Rotair train and the black piste of Laub. As the world's first revolving cable car, the Rotair-Bahn revolves around its own axis on its way to the summit, giving skiers and tourists an all-round view of the grandiose alpine panorama and the cliffs and crevasses of the surrounding area. On the unpolluted deciduous piste, with a gradient of 45 °, extreme skiers will find the ultimate adrenaline kick. In the valley run on the 12 km longest piste of the ski area overcomes a height difference of 2000 m. For cross-country fans, more than 37 cross-country pistes are available through forest and field.
Dizziness at the summit
Near the Titlis peak is the famous ice cave of Engelberg. Inside, turquoise shimmering ice walls create a serene and peaceful atmosphere. Over a length of more than 150m, the crevasse with several branches leads under the glacier surface up to 20 m. Not far from the entrance of the grotto is the lookout point of Stotzig Egg. When the sky is clear, a fabulous panoramic view over the Bernese Alps, the Uri Alps and Lake Lucerne opens up from there.
The highlight of Engelberg is the "Titlis Cliff Walk", a suspension bridge at an altitude of 3020m. It is the highest suspension bridge in Europe. Attention, not for people with vertigo. Who wants to cross this narrow 100m long bridge should be free of heights and have strong nerves. But it's worth it: the landscape that stretches around you is absolutely fantastic. From this unique vantage point, the Alps open up in all their splendor.
Something for every taste
Whether skier or not, in Engelberg there are numerous leisure activities. In the slide park of Trübsee you can jet down on rubber tires a downhill run of 150m. Fun for everyone, guaranteed! Up it goes with a magic carpet. Toboggan fans can also enjoy a more than 6 km long run in the "Snow Fun Park".
Engelberg also offers numerous other winter activities such as: paragliding, snowXbike, snowXmobil, air2bag, ice skating, ice hockey, curling. There are also wellness and recreational facilities: whey bath, sauna with herbal infusion, massages and much more. Gourmets will find in Engelberg over 60 restaurants, ski huts and bars with both local specialties and international delicacies. Engelberg offers everything you need to refesh yourself and get back into everyday life.
