The history of Nendaz, one of the most famous ski resorts in the Valais Alps, dates back to the 10th century. Only in the 1940s, however, began the tourism development of the region, which continues since then continuously.

Today, Nendaz consists of a total of 18 smaller and larger districts, which are located at different altitudes between the Rhône plain and the highest village Siviez at 1730 meters.

The main town of the station, which is one of the sunniest regions in Switzerland, is Haute-Nendaz at 1400 meters altitude. Ski holidaymakers can enjoy a unique view of the Bernese, the Valais and the Vaud Alps.

From Haute-Nendaz, you can also take a gondola directly to the Tracouet altitude station at 2200 meters and from there to the giant ski area 4 Vallées. Highlight of the plain between Tracouet and the local mountain Dent de Nendaz (2463 m) is the small lake Lac Noir, which is probably fed by an underground glacier on the northern piste of the Dent de Nendaz.
