The name of Mayens-de-Sion, which means mountain pasture of Sion, reveals a lot about the original roots of the small mountain village. About 15 kilometers away is the authentic village of the well-known episcopal city of Sion, the capital of the canton of Valais. Located at 1,200 meters above the Rhone Valley, Mayers-de-Sion offers its guests peace and quietness in its purest form, as well as breathtaking views of the valley.

In the form of many original chalets in traditional construction, Mayens-de-Sion has retained its authentic charm and is still characterized by a very special ambience. The village's 6 historic chapels, which are still connected by ancient channels, contribute to the extraordinary flair of this small village.

Equally impressive is the densely-wooded wintry landscape around Mayens-de-Sion, which offers the opportunity to winter hiking, cross-country skiing and snowshoe tours. Alpine winter sports fans can enter the XXL ski area 4 Vallées in the neighboring towns of Mayen-de-l'Ours, Les Collons or Veysonnaz.
